Clean scrap
Material from one platinum alloy only, e.g. turnings from a lathe used only to machine platinum, casting sprues. This material does not have to be de-alloyed and consequently metal can be fabricated back into useful material all the quicker.

Mixed scrap
Material that contains more than one alloy of platinum and/or gold and silver, e.g. bench filings, turnings from a lathe where gold and platinum are being machined, items containing solder. Such material has to be fully refined and takes a little longer but Johnson Matthey NY's expertise ensures you get the best return in the shortest period.

Sweep, polishings & residues
These materials invariably contain only small percentages of precious metals but are no less important when calculating the overall profitability of your operation.
